Angela Spivey
Angela Spivey the third
child born to Rev. Harvey and Vernice
Spivey, on November 9th. Angie, as she
is affectionately called, grew up on the
West side of Chicago and attended Lucy
Flowers High School. After graduating
from high school, Angie launched a
career in the hair business, she
attended and graduated from Debbie's
School of Beauty College. Before getting
deep into her academic studies, Angie at
the age of 14 years old started a Young
People's Choir at her then and still
home church First Corinthians Missionary
Baptist Church, where she has served as
minister of music for the Voices of
Victory--for 31 years. As a successful
businesswoman, Angie owned and operated
a hair salon for 14 years. After laying
down the "Hot Irons", she began a career
in Real Estate. Angie is now a Senior
Loan Officer for Refinancing and a
Property Investor. In the past five
years, Angie has become an icon in the
gospel arena. Angie and the Voices
released their first Live Recording
"Victorious Praise" on Aleho
International Music in 1995, and
received an "Excellence Award" for Best
New Artist of the year. In 1997, Angie
and The Voices recorded their second
Live Recording "In The Church", and now
to complete the trinity their third Live
Recording "Glory,Honor And Praise" is
now available on CD and Cassette. In
presenting these three albums, Angie was
able to birth her song writing talent
with songs such as "Lo I'll Be With You
Always", "Oh Lord Fix Me" (Arrangement),
"It Shouldn't Be In The Church", Step
Out On Faith" and I Want To Be Worthy."
Angie is also the lead singer on the
song "So You Would Know" which has
become the national anthem of the Gospel
Announcers Guild of the Gospel Music
Workshop of America. Angie's anointed
rendition of this song has blessed many
souls worldwide. Angie is an anointed
woman of God who is full of energy and
serious about God's work. One fruit of
the spirit that radiates in Angie's
light is "Love", and the spiritual
vitamin that she shares in her ministry
is "I Love You For Real One encounter,
and it's really hard to forget Angela
Spivey. Dubbed the 'Princess of Gospel',
she is a powerhouse of vocal exhuberance
and a spirited bundle of energy. Beloved
for her lead vocal on "So You Would
Know" from the Gospel Announcer's Guild
of the Gospel Music Workshop of America
project, the Chicago native has
three solo projects
under her belt.
